Scholarship

My research interests focus on the future of information and communication technologies, especially as they relate to institutions of higher education, libraries, work, and ethics.

I edited and authored with colleagues from Seattle Pacific University AI, Faith, and the Future (Pickwick, 2022). The introduction is available here, and an open access copy of the book is available here.

My second book, Artificial Intelligence and the Apocalyptic Imagination: Artificial Agency and Human Hope (Cascade, 2023), is based on an endowed lecture I delivered in 2022. The introduction is available here.

My current book project, Hope in the Library: The Library as a Source, Sign, and Structure of Hope, argues for the importance of libraries in an age of artificial and automated intelligence.

Most of my scholarly works are available from my SelectedWorks site.
